Chicago Museums Offer Free Admission for MLK Day

Three of Chicago's most popular cultural institutions are offering free admission to Illinois residents on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

In a news release Monday, the Field Museum, Adler Planetarium and Shedd Aquarium said residents also will be able to buy discounted passes for additional exhibits and features on Jan. 18.

Visitors must show proof of residency to take advantage of the offers.

The Shedd Aquarium also will extend its hours, and will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The institutions are located along Lake Michigan on what's known as Chicago's museum campus.
