9 Chicago Restaurants Make List of Highest Grossing in U.S.

Local dining establishments rank in Restaurant Business Magazine's list of Top 100 Independent Restaurants in U.S.

Nine Chicago restaurants landed on a list of the top grossing independent restaurants in America with less than five locations.

Gibsons Bar and Steakhouse ranked the highest at number 10 with earnings of $22.5 million, according to Restaurant Business Online's annual list. The average check size was $73.

Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab was just behind Gibsons at number 11, with $21.8 million in sales and an average check size of $69.

81. Quartino Ristorante

89. Tavern on Rush

  • Sales: $12,687,644
  • Avg. Check: $71

Tao Asian Bistro in Las Vegas topped the list with sales at $47 million and an average check size of $70.

Another Chicago-area restaurant that made the list was Bob Chinn's Crab House in Wheeling, Illinois, that grossed $17,553,828 and had an average check of $39.
