2016 Michelin Guide Adds 2 New Restaurants to 1-Star Eateries

Only two new restaurants have been named among the highly-acclaimed star selections

The 2016 Michelin Guide for Chicago is out and two new restaurants have been named among the highly-acclaimed star selections.

Parachute in Chicago’s Avondale neighborhood and Dusek’s Board & Beer in Pilsen both received one star, joining 15 other restaurants in the city with the elite status.

Only one former one-star restaurant was elevated to two stars in the latest edition and that was Acadia. The South Loop restaurant is now one of only three in Chicago to receive two Michelin stars for 2016, indicating “excellent cuisine, worth a detour.”

“We have been following Chef Ryan McCaskey at Acadia closely for the last few years and he continues to impress us with his elegant technique-driven cooking,” Michael Ellis, international director of the Michelin Guide, said in a statement. “Over the past year, he has delivered superb cuisine with a unique perspective and superb ingredients. We are thrilled to see his cooking reach these new heights.”

42 Grams in Lincoln Park and Old Town and Sixteen in River north both maintained their two-star statuses. Lincoln Park’s L20, which was on last year’s two-star list, closed its doors in early 2015.

Chicago’s two three-star restaurants, Grace and Alinea, continued to hold the coveted ranking once again.
