Quinn Names Burke's Daughter to Six-Figure Post

Ald. Edward Burke's daughter on Wednesday was named by Gov. Pat Quinn to the Illinois Pollution Control Board.

Jennifer Burke joins the IPCG from the city, where she works as an assistant corporation counsel supervisor making $99,948, according to salary data posted on the city's website.

Her new position brings her income to six figures -- more than $117,000 -- reported the Chicago Tribune.

Quinn was sworn into office by Jennifer Burke's mother, Illinois Supreme Court Justice Anne Burke, and Ald. Burke (14th) was a major contributor to Quinn's recent gubernatorial campaign.

But the Chicago Tribune reports that Justice Burke and Quinn's office both refuted suggestions that Jennifer Burke's appointment was payback for the political donations.

Her appointment requires confirmation from the Illinois Senate.
