Primary Ballot Set for Illinois Governor's Race

The Illinois State Board of Elections held its lottery to determine the order in which candidates will appear on the March primary ballot.

In total, seven candidates will appear on the Democratic ballot in the race for governor. Businessman J.B. Pritzker, seen by many as the frontrunner in the race, will have his name appear first on the ballot, which will be used in the primary election on March 20.

Chris Kennedy, who is running close to Pritzker in polls, and Daniel Biss, who recently won a straw poll among female voters after the Governor’s Candidate Forum last weekend, will be placed second and third on the ballot, respectively.

All seven candidates are running for the Democratic nomination this spring, and are hopeful that they will get to take on incumbent Governor Bruce Rauner in the general election next fall.

Here is the full list of candidates as they will appear on the March ballot:

The first debate of the new year will take place on Jan. 23 when NBC Chicago and Telemundo host a debate between the Democratic candidates. A total of six debates are currently on the docket.
