Obama Foundation Seeks Library Construction Management Firms



    'Not Just a Library': Obama Hopes Presidential Center Will Foster New Leaders

    Former President Barack Obama unveiled plans for his future presidential center Wednesday, painting a picture of a buzzing hub for youth and community programs on the South Side of Chicago where he raised his family and launched his political career. Mary Ann Ahern reports.

    The Obama Foundation is looking for firms interesting in managing construction for the planned presidential library in Chicago.

    The manager will join existing teams and help with pre-construction services, like cost estimates and logistics planning during the design phase.

    Officials have said construction of The Obama Presidential Center will take about four years, with programming starting this year.

    Drawings of the facility to be located on the city's South Side lakefront show three structures, including a tower-like museum and tree-lined walkways. Officials say there will also be a public plaza and classroom space.
