Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner is trying to win re-election to office this year, but his family made some big news off the campaign trail Thursday.
In a tweet, the governor revealed that he is now a grandfather for the very first time, as one of his children had a healthy baby girl this week:
“She’s here!” the governor tweeted. “Diana and I are excited to announce the arrival of our first grandchild. Hearts full and blessed beyond words to welcome this perfect gift into the family.”
According to the Chicago Tribune, the governor declined to reveal which of his children was expecting. Rauner has four daughters and two sons.
Rauner revealed that one of his children was expecting during an event with veterans last week in Springfield, saying that he was “bustin’ at the buttons” to tell people about the big news.
