Former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel Gets Job at Banking Advisory Firm

Emanuel will still be based in Chicago with the new assignment, the company says

    Former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has added another job title to his growing list of responsibilities, joining an independent investment banking advisory firm.

    Centerview Partners, a company based in New York, announced the hiring in a press release on Wednesday, citing the former mayor’s “leadership and experience” in the financial field.

    “Establishing a presence in Chicago is a logical next step for Centerview as we continue to grow, and it positions us to better serve existing and new clients throughout the Midwest,” company co-founder Blair Effron said in a statement.

    Centerview Partners also has offices in London, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Palo Alto. The company provides independent advice and other client services, and has advised clients on nearly $3 trillion since it was founded in 2006, according to the company’s website.

    “I am excited to use my lifelong experience as an advisor and problem solver in both the public and private sectors in this next chapter of my career, and am thrilled to be joining Centerview Partners,” Emanuel said in a statement.

    In addition to his new role at the company, Emanuel will also serve as a contributor for ABC News, and will also pen columns for The Atlantic. He also just completed a bike trip around Lake Michigan, which he called a “bucket list” item before leaving the mayor’s office last month.
