Emanuel Taps Daley Daughter for Arts Post

Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel on Wednesday tapped the outgoing mayor's daughter, Nora Conroy Daley, as part of the leadership team for a "reinvigorated" Chicago Cultural Affairs Advisory Committee.

"Our diverse arts and cultural scene is a key part of what makes Chicago a vibrant and dynamic place to live," Emanuel said in a written statement.  "We treasure our flagship institutions, and we also love living in a city where new music, theater, dance and visual arts are being createdevery day in hundreds of smaller venues."

Marj Halperin, the former president and CEO of the League of Chicago Theatres, will serve as vice chair of the advisory committee.

Daley Conroy currently serves as the Director of Outreach at Metropolis Strategies, as the Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Steppenwolf Theatre Company and serves on Navy Pier's board.

Emanuel's announcement came on the same day his predecessor, Richard Daley, presided over his final City Council meeting.
