Report Filed on Hastert Criminal Case

Hastert is now believed to be residing at his longtime home in Yorkville.

A notice which appears to relate to disgraced former House Speaker Dennis Hastert’s compliance with terms of his release has been posted to his federal case.

The notice, which was filed under seal, does not say what prompted the report. It simply states, “SPECIAL Report 12A-No Court Action/Violation.”

Last December, following another such “Special Report”, the terms of Hastert’s release were modified to restrict his use of a computer and possession of any “pornographic, sexually oriented, or sexually stimulating materials.” That order further stated that Hastert was not to patronize any place where such material or entertainment was available, or to use any sex-related telephone numbers.

Hastert was further ordered not to have any contact with anyone under the age of 18, “except in the presence of a responsible adult who is aware of the nature of his background and current offense.”

Hastert was convicted of violating U.S. banking laws, in connection with the payment of hush money to a former student who said he was sexually abused by the former House Speaker when he was a wrestling coach in Yorkville. That individual, who is suing Hastert for the balance of the funds he says he was promised, was one of four former students who made similar accusations.

Hastert was sentenced to 15 months in prison, serving his sentence at a federal prison in Rochester, Minnesota.

In the December filing, Hastert was ordered to provide his probation officer with copies of his telephone bills and credit card statements to verify compliance with the court’s guidelines. He was also ordered to submit to searches of his home, automobile, and computers, without the need of a warrant, “by any law enforcement or probation officer having reasonable suspicion concerning a violation.”

“The defendant shall consent to the installation of computer monitoring software on all identified computers,” the order stated. “The software may restrict and/or record any and all activity on the computer, including the capture of keystrokes, application information, internet use history, email correspondence, and chat conversations.”

Hastert is now believed to be residing at his longtime home in Yorkville.
