President Donald Trump will be at the Wisconsin-Illinois border Thursday for the ceremonial groundbreaking of the Foxconn factory in Mount Pleasant, the company announced.
The event is expected to happen at noon with Gov. Scott Walker, House Speaker Paul Ryan and Foxconn executives present.
Trump is also expected to attend a fundraiser the following day in Milwaukee. The event will mark the president’s first visit to Wisconsin in the last year.
The Wisconsin factory, scheduled to be open by 2020, is expected to be massive. It will produce liquid-crystal display panels, or LCDs, that are used in televisions and computer screens.
Taiwan-based Foxconn is perhaps best known for assembling Apple iPhones in China.
State and local governments committed $4.5 billion in tax incentives for the LCD screen manufacturing plant, with the promise it will create thousands of jobs.
Those who do not support the use of taxpayers funds for Foxconn are reportedly organizing a protest.

Forty different groups have said they plan to join together in one mass demonstration, according to the Wisconsin Gazette. The groups are upset with “siphoning Lake Michigan water, seizing private property and misuse of public funds.”
A recent poll by Marquette University Law School showed skepticism growing over the Foxconn deal with 46 percent of respondents saying they believe the incentive package isn’t worth it. Forty percent said they believe the aid will pay off.
