Obama Considering Penny Pritzker For Commerce Secretary: Report

President Barack Obama might bank on a Penny in the world of commerce.

Obama is considering big-time fundraiser and Hyatt hotel scion Penny Pritzker for his choice as commerce secretary, Sun-Times columnist Michael Sneed reports. It's a role was she mentioned as a candidate for, but from which she withdrew her name after running the finances for Obama's 2008 presidential campaign. Now it looks like she's back in the running.

Sneed reports Pritzker has since stepped down as chairwoman of the Hyatt retirement community chain and sold stakes in several of her businesses.

Though Pritzker's relationship with Obama has seemed strained at times (some have raised questions about her access and personal time with the president), she has stayed close with the First Family.

Pritzker was spotted last summer on Air Force One and was on standby to boost re-election fundraising efforts. She also was on hand during inauguration festivities to celebrate the president's second term.
