Mike Ditka Says Donald Trump Could ‘Make America Great Again'

Is Donald Trump da future of America? Da coach apparently thinks so.

Mike Ditka, in a recent interview with the Chicago Sun-Times, said he thinks Trump has “the fire in his belly to make America great again and probably do it the right way.”

He added that he thinks Trump needs to "think a little bit more before he says things" but said he thinks Trump is "on the right track."

It appears the support is mutual as Trump was also quoted in an interview with the Sun-Times’ Michael Sneed saying, “I love Mike Ditka.”

Trump also reportedly said he’d like to have Ditka “involved in some capacity” because “Mike knows how to win and our politicians don’t.”

Trump has previously shown he is a fan of the Super Bowl-winning coach, tweeting quotes from Ditka in years past (h/t Politico).

The former Bears coach, who previously dubbed himself as an “ultra-ultra-ultra conservative,” isn’t opposed to getting involved in politics.

Last year, he appeared in ads for Gov. Bruce Rauner, who defeated his Democractic predecessor Pat Quinn. He also contributed to Ald. Bob Fioretti's campaign fund when he ran for mayor against Rahm Emanuel.

Ditka even dabbled in Illinois' political arena 10 years ago when he considered a run for U.S. Senate. Ditka opted against a play for public office, citing a conflict with his business endeavors. If he had thrown his helmet into the ring, he could have gone head-to-head with future President Barack Obama.
