The Buzz: Hastings was formerly 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and later promoted to Captain, where he received a Bronze Star for his service. He later joined Johnson & Johnson as a clinical sales representative.
Hastings was then elected vice-president of the Board of Trustees for Illinois High School District 203 and also has served as the co-chairman of the Finance Committee and co-chairman of the Education Committee in the district. He currently is working on obtaining his law degree in educational law.
Hasting's platform includes a focus on pension reform, veteran's rights and education.
