Lawmakers Aim to Tweak Concealed Carry Law

The first permits haven't yet been granted, and already lawmakers are trying to amend Illinois' concealed carry law.

Tinkerers abound from all sides.

Proposed changes run the gamut from easing restrictions to tightening restrictions. One proposal aims to reduce the training requirements to obtain a permit from 16 hours to 8 hours.

Another proposal aims to clarify language – making it clear weapons are forbidden where patrons are gambling or consuming alcohol.

Officials estimate approximately 350,000 to 400,000 individuals would apply for the permits in the first year.
