The Buzz: Kyle McCarter was appointed to the Senate of the 51st District in 2009 and was later elected to the position in 2010. McCarter is a small business owner of two manufacturing companies, producing emergency respiratory equipment, specialized fitness equipment and environmental protectors for the power utility industry.
McCarter is against same-sex marriage and is anti-abortion. He believes small business is the foundation to a growing economy.
In 2011, McCarter claimed he was punched by Senator Mike Jacobs in a debate over electric utility rate hike legislation.
