Kirk Invites CSU President to State of Union

As President Obama delivers his State of the Union speech tonight, take a look at who's sitting next to Sen. Mark Kirk.

It's Wayne D. Watson, president of Chicago State University. Kirk was allowed to invite one guest to the speech, and he asked Watson last week during a visit to the school.

“It is my privilege to be able to invite the president of Chicago’s oldest, fully accredited public university,” Kirk said in a statement. “President Watson graciously accepted my invitation.”

According to the statement, Kirk and Watson also agreed during last week's meeting to team up to recruite CSU students to intern at the senator’s Chicago office throughout the year.

“With Dr. Watson’s help, we should have no shortage of young Americans committed to public service,” Kirk said.
