Five Chicago High Schools Named To Daily Beast's Top 1000

What was Mayor Rahm Emanuel thinking? The mayor is spending tens of thousands of dollars sending his three children to the University of Chicago Laboratory School (where tuition is around $25,000 a year), when he could be sending them to much better schools for free.

The Daily Beast came out with its list of the 1,000 best high schools in America this week, and four Chicago Public Schools made it:

    28.   Northside College Prep
    53.   Walter Payton College Preparatory
    123. Whitney M. Young Magnet
    247. William Jones College Prep
    687. Lincoln Park High School

Lab is not on the list, possibly because you don’t learn much by attending school only with other children from your socio-economic background.

Northside’s statistics included a 100 percent graduation rate, a 29.2 average ACT score, and a 3.8 average AP score.
