Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel met privately Philadelphia Police Chief Charles Ramsey, WARD ROOM has learned from a source with knowledge of the meeting.
The two discussed Ramsey moving to Chicago, his hometown, to take over the police superintendant position vacated when Jody Weis declined to stay on without a contract.
Emanuel has made filling the superintendant job a top priority. During the campaign he suggested he'd fill the position with someone who understands the role of the beat cop.
Though Emanuel has mentioned Ramsey as a candidate, this is the first we've heard that the two men met to discuss the position. The one-on-one meeting did not take place in Chicago, sources said.
