Emanuel Attended Secret White House Inaugural Party

Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s name is on a list of attendees to a secret White House inaugural party that is just now coming to light.

Emanuel was one of a number of old Chicago friends who attended the “hush-hush, swanky, ultra-A-list party to celebrate Obama's second term the night he took the oath of office…a mix of rock stars, actors, top campaign donors, White House aides, Obama friends and leading Democratic politicians,” reports The Hill who obtained copies of White House guest lists for the past three months and cross referenced against known visitors.

Emanuel's spokeswoman, Sarah Hamilton, said Emanuel was invited by the president.

Also at the party were Penny Pritzker, the longtime fundraiser who has just been nominated for Commerce Secretary; Dr. Eric and Cheryl Whitaker, Obama’s close friends from his University of Chicago/Hyde Park days, the paper reports.

Emanuel partied with a pretty elite crowd, according to the newspaper:

Some of the names include actor Jamie Foxx; Obama adviser David Axelrod; Rep. Joaquín Castro (D-Texas) and his twin brother, San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro; singer Kelly Clarkson; Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.); actress Eva Longoria; singer James Taylor; former NBA player Alonzo Mourning; Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley (D); and former White House spokesman Robert Gibbs. Clinton aide Huma Abedin was on the list, but her husband, former New York Democratic Rep. Anthony Weiner, was not.

Although, knowing our mayor, he’d probably say they partied with him.
