Matt McGrath, who recently served as Senator-elect Tammy Duckworth’s campaign manager, has taken a new job as Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s press secretary.

McGrath, who starts his new job in the Emanuel administration this week, thanked Duckworth and her campaign team in a letter Tuesday.

“My gratitude to Senator-elect Duckworth and the entire Duckworth campaign team is limitless, and I’ll always be proud of what we accomplished,” he wrote. “Election night was a mixed bag and a little bittersweet, but the new reality in Washington only underscores how critical and important Tammy’s unique voice will be in the Senate, and I’m excited to see what she does.”

Additionally, McGrath said he was looking forward to joining Emanuel’s team after spending 15 years working on campaigns.

“I’m thrilled to have this opportunity to serve this mayor — as well as this city, which i humbly suggest is the greatest in the world,” McGrath wrote.

“I’m also really happy to be able to stay in Chicago and settle in one place, at least for a while,” he added.
