Desiree Rogers Dodges Reporters at Giannoulias Event

If she's as good a friend as she says she is, then why did Desiree Rogers refuse to come and go thru the front door today of today's fundraiser for Senate Democratic candidate Alexi Giannoulias?

Rogers, who has returned to Chicago after being forced out as the White House Social Secretary, was one of the hosts for today's Women's Circle Luncheon at local restaurant Reza. It's believed to be her first campaign event since coming back home.

But when Rogers' car pulled up to the event and she saw the NBC 5 camera, the driver kept rolling. Rogers apparently came and left thru the back door in the alley.  One attendee told us Rogers didn't know how to pronounce the name of Congressman Jan Schakowsky, one of the hosts for the event.

Another congressman, Democrat Melissa Bean, attended the Giannoulias event -- but literally ducked her head and quickly stepped inside Reza rather than speak to the two reporters waiting outside.  It's certainly not the first time Bean has been camera shy.

Despite the hubbub, the event left Giannoulias "excited" as he feels "momentum" his way.   Not only this event, later this week Education Secretary Arne Duncan and White House Deputy Chief of staff are coming to Chicago for fundraisers for Giannoulias.   Next week, it's VP Joe Biden sending his love.
