Gery Chico Monday received the endorsement of a number of labor groups.
The International Union of Operating Engineers, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 9, Sheet Metal Workers Local 73, Ironworkers Local 1,Laborers’ District Council of Chicago & Vicinity, Painters District Council #14, all placed their stamp of approval on the Chico campaign.
Chico has enjoyed a swell of support from labor unions over the past few weeks, most notably from the Fraternal Order of Police.
But where Chico has earned the backing of unions, Rahm Emanuel, the front runner in the race for mayor, continues to reel in the big names.
Monday the campaign announce they would receive the endorsement of Secretary of State Jesse White, a prominent black politician. Emanuel also scored the endorsements of Crain's Chicago Business, The Chicago Sun-Times and The Chicago Tribune, to go along with mega watt endorsements from Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
