Chicago Teen Tennis Phenom Jogs With Rahm

Taylor Townsend visits Chicago before heading to Wimbledon

Chicago teenager Taylor Townsend is heading to Wimbledon, but before getting on a plane she shared a lakefront jog with Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

The 18-year-old from Englewood made a splash at the French Open last month, defeating the 20th seed in what was Townsend's first Grand Slam tournament.

She was expected to leave Thursday for England after receiving a wild card. The Wimbledon Championships begin Monday.

But first, she joined Emanuel for a 1-1/2-mile jog arranged by her coach.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports the two talked a bit about yoga, and that the tennis star had some trouble keeping up with the mayor.

Speaking afterward, she said, "He was going so fast."

Townsend says she's confident going into Wimbledon, explaining that she performs better on grass
