Chicago In Talks With ADM To Relocate To City

Chicago officials say agribusiness giant Archer Daniel Midland Company is considering the city as a new location for its global headquarters after more than four decades in Decatur.

City spokesman Tom Alexander said Monday that ADM is a dynamic global company and would be a good fit with Chicago. He says officials will do their best to keep ADM in Illinois.

He declined to talk details, including the status of the talks. Company officials won't publicly discuss details about where it might relocate.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel says in a statement that he's pleased that ADM is considering staying in Illinois. He says he's ready to work with the state and the company.

ADM says the new headquarters would have about 100 employees.

ADM is the largest employer in Decatur.
