Chicago Alderman Pushes Plastic Bag Ban

Will plastic bags be a thing of the past for Chicago business?

They will if 1st Ward Alderman Joe Moreno has a say in the matter.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Moreno claims to have enough votes to pass an ordinance that will ban small and large city retailers from using the bags for sales.

A previous proposal that excluding businesses with less than 5,000 square feet of space was rejected by the mayor, the newspaper reports.

Moreno's main beef with the plastic bags is the effect they have on the environment.
