Amer Ahmad

Who He Is: Ahmad was a Senior Vice President at KeyCorp, a bank based in Cleveland. He also served the bank as head of the public sector group. Prior to joining KeyCorp Ahmad was the Deputy State Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer for the State of Ohio. Before his taking his post in Ohio, Ahmad was vice president at the investment bank William Blair & Company, where he worked for seven years. He began his career in finance at Wasserstein Perella & Co. in New York and Tokyo. He attended Harvard Business School, receiving a master’s degree in business administration and received his bachelor’s degree in political science from Columbia University. Ahmad’s starting salary as city comptroller will be $165,000.

Goals: Ahmad will be part of Emanuel’s business friendly financial team charged with the goal of decreasing the city’s deficit. He will need to work closely with Lois Scott, Alexandra Holt and others to achieve the goals Emanuel set out.
