Weekend Race Round-Up: Nov. 30 – Dec. 1

 You might be tired from all the Turkey Trotting on Thanksgiving Day, but if you're still looking to race, here's your weekend race round-up for the rest of this holiday weekend:

Saturday, November 30:

  • Schaumburg Half Marathon & 5K Turkey Trot - 8:30 a.m. at 3800 Golf Road in Schaumburg. Registration at packet pick-up is available, $75 for the half-marathon and $45 for the 5K, benefitting the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America. Participants receive a fleece hooded pullover and as an added perk, this is the first race to utilize the new bridge at Busse Woods.
  • Cool 5K/10K - 9 a.m. at the Old School Forest Preserve in Libertyville. 5K registration is $30, 10K is $40 and proceeds benefit the COOL Food Pantry in Lake County, Illinois. Participants receive a winter hat. 
  • Grant Park Turkey Trot 5K - 9 a.m. at Grant Park in Chicago. Race-day 5K registration is $45, Kids' Dash is free. Proceeds benefit Playworks to reduce bullying and participants receive a hooded pullover.
  • Twisted Turkey Trail Marathon, Half-Marathon, & 5K - 9 a.m. at Imagination Glen Park (2275 McCool Road) in Portage, Indiana. Registration fees for the 5K, Half-marathon, and Marathon are $32, $60, and $80 respectively, each ten dollars less if you don't want the long-sleeve tech shirt. 

Sunday, December 1st: 

  • Kiwanis Santa Run for the Kids 5K & 1-Mile - 9 a.m. at the Raue Center for the Arts (26 N. Williams St) in Crystal Lake. Online registration is closed but you can register on race day or at the Running Depot in Crystal Lake on 11/30 during packet pick-up. $35 for the 5K and $15 for the 1-mile, all benefitting various nonprofits in McHenry County. Participants receive a Santa Suit. 
  • Go Santa Go 5K - 9 a.m. at Soldier Field in Chicago. Race day registration is $50 ($45 online) to benefit the Starlight Children's Foundation Midwest. Participants receive either a Santa shirt, hat and beard, or an elf shirt and hat to wear as they run.
