Jabari Parker Picks Duke University

Simeon star makes long-awaited college decision

Simeon basketball star Jabari Parker is going to Duke.

Parker, an All-American and the No. 2 rated senior in the country made the announcement Thursday afternoon at a packed news conference at his high school.

Parker had listed Duke, BYU, Michigan State, Stanford and Florida as the schools he was considering.

He made visits to all five campuses -- unofficially -- and “official” visits to every school except Stanford.

Parker said it was a tough to choose from among all of the schools, describing it as a "better, best and best kind of a situation."

He said he looked at the quality of players that came out of each program, but the main factor in his decision was Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski.

"Duke is always going to be in the tournament, but the long-term investment. If I go there, I'm going to get a good degree," he said.

Parker is the most highly-recruited high school basketball player since Derrick Rose and has drawn comparisons to the likes of LeBron James.
