Teague Scores 21 points in D-League Debut

Marquis Teague helped the Iowa Energy to a 110-107 victory over the Maine Red Claws on Friday night

One day after being sent down to the D-League to play for the Iowa Energy, Marquis Teague played in his first game against the Maine Red Claws. Not only did he help the Energy to a 110-107 victory, individually, Teague fared quite well himself.

Teague got a start at point guard, playing almost 35 minutes, and scoring 21 points while dishing out six assists. He shot 9-15 from the field, was 1-1 from behind the three-point line, and was 2-5 at the free throw line. He also committed five turnovers.

The second-year point guard came out of the gates strong, scoring nine points in the first quarter and by halftime, he led all scorers with 17 points, while also dishing out three assists while shooting 7-9 from the field.

But he slowed down a bit in the second half, shooting just 2-6 from the field the remainder of the game and scoring only four points.

The two teams will face off again on Saturday night from Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, with tip-off coming at 7 pm. Fans interested in watching Marquis Teague play can watch the game streamed live on YouTube.
