Zillow Names Chicago as Nation's Top Buyers' Market

Sellers hold the upper hand in San Jose, San Francisco and Las Vegas, Zillow reports

If you're looking to buy a home, it's good to be in Chicago, Milwaukee or Cleveland.

Those three Midwestern cities give buyers the most negotiating power, according to data released this week by the online real estate firm Zillow.

On the flip side, sellers hold the upper hand in San Jose, San Francisco and Las Vegas.

Looking closer at the Chicago area, Zillow said Downers Grove, Northbrook, Palatine, Buffalo Grove and Orland Park were the top five buyers' markets. Crown Point, Bolingbrook, Valparaiso, Aurora and Munster were ranked as the top sellers' markets.

The company said the results came from an analysis of sale-to-list price rations, the number of days a listing stayed on Zillow and the percentage of homes on the market with a price cut.
