Chicago Blackhawks

Scott Darling to Start in Net vs. Blackhawks Saturday

The Chicago Blackhawks will take on the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night, and a familiar face will greet them in the opposing net.

Scott Darling, whom the Blackhawks traded to the Hurricanes over the offseason, will indeed get the start against his former team when the clubs tangle in Raleigh. The Hurricanes are playing in Columbus on Friday, but Darling will get the night off and will instead start on home ice against the team with which he made his NHL breakthrough.

In three seasons with the Blackhawks, Darling won 39 games and posted a goals against average of 2.37 while establishing himself as one of the game’s best back-ups. After he was traded to the Hurricanes, Darling agreed to a four-year contract extension with the team.

A slew of former Blackhawks will also be on the ice for the Hurricanes when they take on Chicago Saturday. Former center Marcus Kruger, winger Teuvo Teravainen, and defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk will all take on their former team when the teams clash at 6 p.m.

Other players, including Joakim Nordstrom and Klas Dahlbeck, are also on the Hurricanes’ roster.
