Hayden, Kampf Among Blackhawks Sent to Rockford for Stretch Run

The Chicago Blackhawks are done for the season, but they have reinforced their minor league roster as the Rockford IceHogs push for a playoff spot.

On Sunday, the Blackhawks announced that forwards John Hayden, David Kampf, Andreas Martinsen, and Victor Ejdsell had all been sent down to the IceHogs for the AHL’s final few games of the regular season.

Goaltenders Jean Francois Berube and Jeff Glass were also sent down, the team announced.

All six players will be eligible for the IceHogs if they reach the Calder Cup playoffs.

By virtue of the Chicago Wolves’ win over the Milwaukee Admirals on Saturday night, the IceHogs can claim a playoff spot if the Admirals lose their next game against the Iowa Wild on Sunday afternoon. The Wild also play the Wolves on Tuesday, and either a loss in that game or an IceHogs win over the Wild on Tuesday would clinch a playoff spot for Rockford.

Hayden scored four goals for the Blackhawks in 47 games this season, and had five goals and nine assists in just 22 games with the IceHogs. Martinsen had 12 goals with the team in 61 games, and Kampf scored seven goals in 30 games with the IceHogs.

The IceHogs missed the Calder Cup playoffs a season ago, and haven’t advanced beyond the first round of the tournament since the 2014-15 season.
