Gustav Forsling Sent Down, Anisimov Expected to be Activated by Blackhawks

The Chicago Blackhawks will get back one of their key forwards on Monday night, but they had to make a roster move to accommodate him first.

That move was made on Sunday, as the team has sent defenseman Gustav Forsling back to the Rockford IceHogs.

Forsling, who was a minus-4 in Saturday’s blowout loss to the New York Islanders, scored three goals and dished out 10 assists in 41 games this season, but with eight defensemen on the roster, he was sent down to clear the way for Artem Anisimov as he returns from injured reserve.

Anisimov has not officially been activated from injured reserve, but is expected to be on the ice Monday when the Blackhawks take on the Tampa Bay Lightning at the United Center. Anisimov has been on IR since late December after sustaining an upper body injury against the Vancouver Canucks.

Anisimov is expected to center Alex DeBrincat and Ryan Hartman on Monday as the Blackhawks look to recover following back-to-back blowout losses.
