Connor Murphy Likely Out ‘A Couple Weeks' After Groin Injury

Murphy suffered the injury during Tuesday's game against the Golden Knights

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Connor Murphy will likely be sidelined for “a couple of weeks” after suffering a groin injury against the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday night.

Murphy left the game against the Knights due to the injury and did not return. In his postgame press conference, head coach Jeremy Colliton said that he expects the team to be without Murphy for the near future.

Murphy ended up with 12:24 of ice time in the game, and Duncan Keith played 28:03 of ice time as he was double-shifted following his teammate’s departure.

The blue liner missed the Blackhawks’ first game of the season against the Philadelphia Flyers, and has yet to register a point in six games. He has 11 shots on goal in the team’s last six games.

The Blackhawks are currently carrying seven defensemen, but will likely call up a player to replace Murphy. The team plays three games in four days beginning on Thursday, but will have a bit of a break after taking on the Nashville Predators on Oct. 29.
