The Chicago Blackhawks have retained another piece of their bottom six forward group, as they’ve agreed to terms on a new contract with winger John Hayden.

Hayden, who scored four goals and dished out nine assists in 47 games for the Blackhawks last season, will reportedly make $750,000 a season on his new two-year contract.

The deal is a good value for the Blackhawks, as it represents a slight pay-cut for Hayden’s $925,000 that he made per season on his entry level contract. The contract is also one-way, meaning that Hayden will get the benefit of being paid the same salary whether or not he makes the NHL roster to begin next season.

The contract is the second the Blackhawks have handed out this week, as defenseman Henri Jokiharju agreed to an entry-level contract with the team for next season.
