The Chicago Blackhawks have made a roster move, placing defenseman Connor Murphy on long-term injured reserve.

According to the team, Murphy suffered a groin injury during the team’s loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday, and he will be out for a minimum of 10 games due to the ailment.

Murphy had appeared in six games for the Blackhawks this season, failing to register a point but putting 11 shots on goal in those contests.

To replace Murphy, the Blackhawks have recalled defenseman Dennis Gilbert from the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs. Gilbert played in the team’s first game of the season in Prague, and made his NHL debut last season in a game against the St. Louis Blues.

It is unclear whether Gilbert will be in the lineup when the Blackhawks face the Flyers again on Thursday night. It is expected that it will either be the 2015 third-round pick or Slater Koekkoek that will draw in to replace Murphy when the teams meet for the final time in regular season action.
