Rockford IceHogs Sign Jake Ryczek to 1-Year Contract

Ryczek was a seventh round pick of the Blackhawks in 2016, and has been playing in this week's development camp

Defenseman Jake Ryczek has been participating in this week’s Chicago Blackhawks Development Camp on the West Side, and fans will see a lot more of him as he has agreed to an AHL contract with the Rockford IceHogs.

Ryczek, who was drafted by the Blackhawks in the seventh round of the 2016 Draft, appeared in five career collegiate games with Providence College in 2017, but has spent most of the last two years with the QMJHL’s Halifax Mooseheads.

The defenseman has been a strong contributor offensively, with 16 goals and 44 assists in 84 combined games over the last two seasons. He has also appeared in 32 playoff games for the Mooseheads, racking up 16 assists in those contests.

Ryczek is now signed with the IceHogs through the end of the 2019-20 season, the team said in a press release.
