According to Dave Issac of the Courier Post, the Flyers on Sunday made a decision to fire head coach Dave Hakstol and to hire Quenneville for the same position.
A short time later, Fox Sports Midwest's Andy Strickland posted on social media that he had reached out to the former Blackhawks head coach, who denied that he had accepted the job with the Flyers.
Another report, this one from TSN's Darren Dreger, says that the Flyers have yet to make a decision on the matter:
Quenneville, who has the second-most coaching wins in NHL history, was fired by the Blackhawks in November after winning three Stanley Cups and guiding the team to five Western Conference Final appearances during his tenure.
Quenneville still had two years left on his contract with the Blackhawks when he was relieved of his duties.
The Flyers have not confirmed the firing or the potential replacement for their coach.
