Chicago Blackhawks to Honor Jim Thome Later This Season

Thome was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame last year

The Chicago Blackhawks will honor a Baseball Hall of Famer later this year when they welcome former Chicago White Sox star Jim Thome to the United Center.

Thome, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2018, will be the guest of honor at the Blackhawks’ March 18 game against the Vancouver Canucks. A ceremony will be held honoring Thome’s achievements, and will celebrate the coming baseball season, according to the team.

Thome hit 612 home runs and drove in 1,699 RBI in his 22 big league seasons. He played for the White Sox from 2006 to 2009, and the Peoria-native now serves as a special assistant to General Manager Rick Hahn on the South Side.
