Brent Seabrook Latest Blackhawks Player to be Hit by Flu

Luke Johnson and Alex DeBrincat both have missed time due to illness

A flu-bug making its way around the Chicago Blackhawks’ locker room has hit defenseman Brent Seabrook, who missed practice due to illness on Tuesday.

Seabrook, who already had to miss time with a groin injury earlier in training camp, has not been ruled out of any game action, as the Blackhawks open their regular season on Thursday, but the team will likely be cautious with him after he became the latest player to fall ill.

Over the weekend, forward Luke Johnson missed practice and a preseason game for the Blackhawks as he dealt with flu-like symptoms. Forward Alex DeBrincat has also missed practice this week with an undisclosed ailment.

The Blackhawks and Ottawa Senators will square off Thursday in the season opening game for both clubs. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
