Corey Crawford to Start for Blackhawks vs. Coyotes

For the first time in nearly 300 days, Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Corey Crawford will be on the ice as the team takes on the Arizona Coyotes at the United Center.

Crawford, who has been out of action since December of 2017 with a concussion, has slowly been making his way back to hockey shape in practices, but will face an opponent for the first time in nearly a year when he faces the Coyotes on Thursday night.

Needless to say, the Blackhawks were excited by the development:

In a corresponding roster move, the Blackhawks are expected to send down forward Luke Johnson. Johnson appeared in three games for the Blackhawks this season, registering zero points and four penalty minutes in those contests.

The move means that the Blackhawks will carry three goaltenders for the time being, as Cam Ward has a no-movement clause in his contract and Anton Forsberg would have to clear waivers in order to be sent down to Rockford.

Puck drop between the Blackhawks and Coyotes is set for 7:30 p.m.
