Blackhawks Place Drake Caggiula on LTIR, Recall Anton Wedin

Caggiula has been dealing with a concussion since early November

The Chicago Blackhawks made a roster move Wednesday, recalling forward Anton Wedin from the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs and placing forward Drake Caggiula on long term injured reserve.

Wedin did not make the Blackhawks’ roster out of training camp, but is having a solid season for the IceHogs, scoring four goals and dishing out seven assists in 17 games during his first North American season.

Wedin signed with the Blackhawks prior to the 2019-20 season.

Caggiula is dealing with his second concussion of the calendar year. The forward has three goals and an assist in 15 games so far this season.

Caggiula was placed on LTIR retroactive to Nov. 10, according to the team. The move means that Caggiula would be eligible to return to the active roster on Monday against the St. Louis Blues, and also gives the Blackhawks salary cap space to call up a replacement.

The Blackhawks will be in action on Black Friday when they host the Colorado Avalanche at the United Center. Puck drop is set for 3 p.m.
