The Chicago Blackhawks have made a minor trade on Tuesday night, acquiring defenseman Ian McCoshen from the Florida Panthers.
In exchange, the Blackhawks sent forward Aleksi Saarela to the Panthers.
McCoshen, who has been playing with the AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds this season, has four assists in seven minor league contests. He currently is signed to a two-way contract work $700,000, and will report to the Blackhawks’ AHL affiliate in Rockford.
McCoshen has seven career points in 60 regular season NHL games.
Saarela was acquired from the Blackhawks in the trade that brought defenseman Calvin de Haan to Chicago from the Carolina Hurricanes. After skating with the team during the preseason, Saarela was sent to the AHL to start the year, and had one assist in five games with the IceHogs.
