Ducks Sign Former Blackhawks Forward Dennis Rasmussen

Former Chicago Blackhawks forward Dennis Rasmussen has signed a one-year contract with the Anaheim Ducks, the team announced Friday.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Rasmussen, who scored four goals and registered four assists in 68 games played, was a restricted free agent of the Blackhawks going into the summer, but the team did not give him a qualifying offer, allowing him to become an unrestricted free agent instead.

Losing Rasmussen won’t hurt the Blackhawks much in the scoring department, but it could hurt them in terms of their forward depth. Rasmussen was capable of playing center, which the Blackhawks are shallow at, and on the penalty kill, where they’re hurting after losing Marian Hossa and Marcus Kruger.
