NHL All-Star Fan Voting Open Through Jan. 1

The 2015 NHL All-Star Game will take place in Columbus, Ohio this season, and Chicago Blackhawks fans will have an opportunity to help determine the first six players to be chosen for the game.

The NHL announced on Thursday that fan balloting for the game is now open, with fans able to choose three forwards, two defensemen, and one goaltender on each ballot they cast. Fans can vote up to 10 times per day, and they can participate in a variety of ways:

-Visiting NHL.com/vote, which will allow fans an opportunity to not only vote for their favorite players but also to potentially win a trip to the game in Columbus.

-Using the official NHL mobile app, available for both Android and Apple users.

-Facebook and Twitter users will have the opportunity to promote their favorite players’ candidacy as well, with the option to share their votes on Facebook and to promote players using the #NHLAllStar hashtag on Twitter.

The game will be the first All-Star game contested since 2012, when the team captained by Zdeno Chara beat Daniel Alfredsson’s team 12-9 in Ottawa. Marian Hossa, Patrick Kane, and Jonathan Toews were the three Blackhawks players invited to participate in the game, with Toews having to miss the contest because of a hand injury.

Fans have until January 1 to vote for starters, with the full rosters to be revealed later that month.
