The Chicago Blackhawks are currently fighting for playoff positioning, but in Wednesday’s win against their divisional rival St. Louis Blues, they ended up getting some bad news as Patrick Kane left the game early with a lower body injury.
Kane, who is the Hawks’ leading scorer, was skating along the boards in the second period of the game when defenseman Sheldon Brookbank hit St. Louis forward Brendan Morrow. When Morrow fell after the hit, he ended up landing on Kane’s left leg, and the Hawks winger sprawled to the ice.
There was no announcement by the team about the injury during the game, but Chicago Tribune reporter Chris Kuc said that a source told him that the injury was not a serious one:

NBCSN's Pierre McGuire later reported on the broadcast that he was told by Kane's agent (who has been talking to Kane's father) that the intial timetable on the injury was about two weeks, but it could end up being longer than that.
After the game, head coach Joel Quenneville gave a longer timeline, telling the media that Kane would probably be out for about three weeks. That timeframe would take him through the end of the regular season.

That would likely put Kane out for at least six games, with the first game outside of that two-week window scheduled for April 3 against the Minnesota Wild.
Kane skated off the ice under his own power, but he did have a noticeable limp as he headed down the tunnel to the dressing room.
The Blackhawks won the game 4-0.
