Shortly after the Chicago Blackhawks recalled goaltender Scott Darling from the Rockford IceHogs, they announced that they had signed the goaltender to a two-year contract extension.
The deal means that the Lemont-native will be with the Blackhawks through the 2016-17 season. In seven appearances with the Blackhawks this season, Darling has a 5-2-0 record with a .937 save percentage and a 1.97 goals against average, and although Antti Raanta was widely assumed to be the team's back-up this season, Darling pushed him the whole way.
Darling has played in 26 games with the IceHogs this season, going 14-8-2 and allowing 2.2 goals per contest.
