Blackhawks' Marian Hossa Could Be Forced to Retire From NHL: Report

Chicago Blackhawks winger Marian Hossa might have to retire from the NHL due to a medical condition, according to a new report.

Citing “several sources,” SportsNet reported Tuesday night Hossa “suffers from a serious allergic reaction to the equipment he wears.”

“It’s only funny to anyone who’s never had it,” a source told SportsNet, according to the report.

Doctors reportedly wanted to test Hossa’s blood every few weeks due to the strength of the medicine required to treat the allergy.

Hossa could also potentially go on long-term injured reserve instead of fully retiring, the report notes.

The Blackhawks did not immediately respond to NBC 5's request for comment.
