A gathering among neighbors turned violent in Arlington Heights Sunday night.
Cook County Sheriff spokeswoman Christina Davalle said two roommates invited a neighbor over to their apartment. An argument broke out and the roommates asked the man to leave. He did so, but returned a short time later with a knife.
Davalle said he stabbed one of the roommates, who was taken to Northwest Community Hospital with a stab wound to the chest. That 24-year-old victim is expected to make a full recovery.
The offender apparently tried to stab the second roommate, as well, but did little or no damage.
Cook County sheriff's deputies took a 26-year-old man into custody after being called to the scene at an apartment compless on Randall Road at about 10:30 p.m.
Charges are expected to be filed against the alleged offender on Tuesday.
